CrewLink vs Service Fusion, compared on when travel is checked

Service Fusion and CrewLink both give a dispatcher a board to work from. Service Fusion is an all-in-one field service management platform. CrewLink is a scheduling product. A useful comparison begins there.

This page covers what each one says it does, where the scheduling approaches differ, and who should choose which.

What Service Fusion is

As of October 2026, Service Fusion's homepage describes it as "All-in-One Field Service Management Software." It names scheduling and dispatch, estimates, customer management, GPS tracking, invoicing and payments, a technician mobile app, service agreements, VoIP phone software and reputation management. It lists trades including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, locksmith and garage door.

Service Fusion's scheduling software page (as of October 2026) describes drag-and-drop scheduling, a "dispatch grid," a "GPS tracking map for more efficient scheduling," the ability to reassign appointments from the map view, and trip and distance data. Its pricing page (as of October 2026) publishes plan prices and says every plan includes unlimited users.

So Service Fusion gives dispatchers a map with live locations to inform scheduling. That is useful, and it is the right place to start the comparison.

Where the real difference sits

A map of where trucks are right now is one input. A check of where a truck will be at 2:00 p.m., and whether it can reach the next address from there, is a different input. The question to ask any product is when the drive is checked, and from what position.

CrewLink is built around a single rule. Before a slot is offered, CrewLink checks feasibility with live travel time computed from where the truck will actually be at that hour, meaning the previous job on that crew's day, not the shop and not its current position. If the drive does not fit, the slot is not offered. Drive time is placed on the board next to the job instead of hidden inside it.

Service Fusion's scheduling page describes using a GPS map to schedule more efficiently and reassigning from the map. It does not say, on the page we checked, whether availability is filtered by drive feasibility before a slot is offered. We are not going to guess. Ask Service Fusion, and ask us the same question.

Why the timing matters to your dispatcher

When the drive is checked after booking, the dispatcher becomes the feasibility check. They look at the map, see the conflict and move jobs. That works, and good dispatchers are very good at it. It is also where a large share of their day goes. The guide on whether you need a dispatcher or software works through that trade-off.

When the drive is checked before the slot is offered, the conflicts never land on the scheduling board in the first place. The dispatcher's time goes to the calls that need judgment: emergencies, overruns, customer requests.

Illustrative example: where a dispatcher's morning goes
Jobs booked for the day40
Jobs needing a move because the drive never fit (say 1 in 8)5
Minutes per move, including the customer call (say 10)50 min
Moves needed when infeasible slots are never offered0 of those 5

Those numbers are illustrative. Count your own moves for a week before deciding anything.

What CrewLink does and does not do

CrewLink does a short list of things:

  • Builds live travel time into availability, so the only slots offered are ones a crew can reach.
  • Checks feasibility before a slot is offered, with travel computed from the previous job.
  • Schedules crews around the drive, not the calendar.
  • Gives you a dispatch board.
  • Is built for companies running 5 to 50 trucks.

CrewLink does not do estimates, invoicing, payments, CRM, GPS tracking, phone systems, reputation management, customer texting or a mobile app. A contractor network is on the roadmap and not live.

Who should pick Service Fusion

Pick Service Fusion if you want estimates, scheduling, dispatch, GPS, invoicing and payments in one platform, and you value pricing that does not change as you add office or field users. If your dispatcher already keeps the day together using its map and grid without spending the morning on repairs, a separate scheduling tool adds little.

Who should look at CrewLink

Look at CrewLink if your dispatcher spends the morning undoing bookings that could never work, or if your arrival windows keep widening to absorb drives nobody checked.

What to take away

  • Service Fusion is an all-in-one field service platform. CrewLink is a scheduling and dispatch product only.
  • Service Fusion's site describes a GPS map for scheduling and a dispatch grid. Ask any vendor whether the drive is checked before a slot is offered, and from where.
  • CrewLink checks feasibility at booking, from the crew's previous job.
  • If you want estimates, invoicing, payments and GPS in one platform, Service Fusion is the better fit.

Common questions

Is CrewLink a Service Fusion alternative?

For scheduling and dispatch only. CrewLink is a scheduling layer, not a full field service management replacement. It does not do estimates, invoicing, payments or GPS tracking, which Service Fusion names on its homepage as of October 2026.

Does Service Fusion show where technicians are?

Its scheduling page, as of October 2026, describes a GPS tracking map, the ability to view your team's location and to reassign appointments from the map view.

What is the difference between a live map and a feasibility check?

A live map shows where trucks are now. A feasibility check asks where a truck will be when it finishes its previous job, and whether it can reach the next address in time. The first helps a dispatcher fix conflicts; the second keeps them from being booked.

Who should choose Service Fusion over CrewLink?

Contractors that want one platform for estimates, dispatch, GPS, invoicing and payments with unlimited users, and whose current scheduling already holds up on a busy day.

See your own day on it

CrewLink builds live travel time into availability, so the only slots it offers are ones a crew can physically reach. Walk through it with your own territory and service times — not a demo account.
