CrewLink vs Simpro: a trade operations platform next to a scheduling layer

Simpro is field service management software for trades that handle both service and project work. CrewLink is a scheduling product that only offers slots a crew can reach.

Simpro and CrewLink are different kinds of product. Simpro runs a trade business from estimate to invoice, including project work, inventory and accounting. CrewLink is a scheduling product and nothing else. For a contractor that bids projects and manages materials, that difference likely settles the question.

If scheduling is the part you are trying to fix, this page covers what each one says it does, where the scheduling approaches differ, and who should pick which.

What Simpro is

As of October 2026, Simpro's homepage describes it as an "AI-first operating platform for field service trades" and says it connects office and field "from estimating and scheduling to job execution, invoicing, and reporting." It names industries including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, security and fire protection, describes integrations with QuickBooks and Xero, and says it handles both service and project work.

Simpro's scheduling page (as of October 2026) describes drag-and-drop scheduling with day, week, month and project views, team scheduling with conflict alerts, scheduling by service areas or zones, and preferred technicians for repeat customers. Under routing it says you can "Calculate the distance between the job site and the closest available field staff members," and it describes a fleet tracking add-on, Simtrac, used to "dispatch the closest available staff member on-the-go."

So Simpro uses distance in scheduling and dispatch. A fair comparison starts there.

Where the real difference sits

Distance to the closest available staff member is a dispatch question: who should go now? CrewLink is built around a booking question that comes earlier: before a time is offered to a customer, can a crew get there from where it will be at that hour?

The two can give different answers. The closest available technician right now may be booked solid by Thursday afternoon, and a technician who looks far away today may be finishing a job two streets from the customer at the requested time.

CrewLink checks feasibility before a slot is offered, with live travel computed from the previous job on that crew's day, not the shop. If the drive does not fit, the slot is not offered. Drive time sits on the board next to the job instead of being hidden inside it. That is travel-feasible scheduling.

Simpro's pages, as of October 2026, do not say whether bookings made days ahead are filtered by travel from the prior job. We are not going to guess. Ask Simpro, and ask us the same question.

What CrewLink does and does not do

CrewLink does a short list of things:

  • Builds live travel time into availability, so the only slots offered are ones a crew can reach.
  • Checks feasibility before a slot is offered, with travel computed from the previous job.
  • Schedules crews around the drive, not the calendar.
  • Gives you a dispatch board.
  • Is built for companies running 5 to 50 trucks.

CrewLink does not do estimating, quoting, project management, inventory, purchasing, invoicing, payments, accounting integrations, fleet tracking or a mobile app. A contractor network is on the roadmap and not live.

Who should pick Simpro

Pick Simpro if you run both service calls and projects, you need estimating, inventory and purchasing tied to jobs, and you want invoicing and accounting in the same system. Its pricing page lists a base plan covering quoting and estimating, field and contractor scheduling, inventory and purchasing, invoicing and payments, accounting and reporting, with add-ons on top and pricing by request, as of October 2026. For a contractor whose work spans commercial and residential jobs and multi-stage projects, that breadth matters more than any one scheduling feature.

Who should look at CrewLink

Look at CrewLink if you run 5 to 50 trucks, most of your work is service visits booked ahead, and the schedule is where the day falls apart. Signs include arrival windows padded to cover drives, trucks crossing the same part of town twice, and a dispatcher rebuilding the morning. If your current zone scheduling keeps crews roughly in the right area but still produces late arrivals, the missing piece is usually the drive from the job before.

What to take away

  • Simpro is an operating platform for trades, covering service and project work. CrewLink is a scheduling product only.
  • Simpro's site describes calculating distance to the closest available staff and dispatching by fleet location.
  • CrewLink checks feasibility before a slot is offered, from the job the truck will be finishing at that hour.
  • If you need estimating, inventory, projects and invoicing in one system, Simpro is the better fit.

Common questions

Is CrewLink a Simpro alternative?

For scheduling only. CrewLink does not do estimating, project management, inventory or invoicing, which Simpro describes on its own site as of October 2026. It is a scheduling layer, not a platform replacement.

Does Simpro use travel or distance in scheduling?

Its scheduling page, as of October 2026, says it can calculate the distance between a job site and the closest available field staff, and describes dispatching the closest available staff member with its fleet tracking add-on. For how that applies to bookings made ahead, ask Simpro.

How much does Simpro cost?

Simpro's pricing page asks you to request pricing, as of October 2026. It says pricing is tailored to team size and add-ons, with monthly or annual billing.

Who should choose Simpro over CrewLink?

Trade contractors that run service and project work and want estimating, inventory, invoicing and accounting in the same platform.

See your own day on it

CrewLink builds live travel time into availability, so the only slots it offers are ones a crew can physically reach. Walk through it with your own territory and service times — not a demo account.
